Republic’s inexperienced offense struggled to score in its first three soccer matches of the season, as the Tigers started with two losses in their first three outings. The Tigers opened with a 3-1 win over Waynesville at home.
The Republic tennis team grabbed two conference wins to start its season before suffering a non-conference loss in its home opener. The Lady Tigers beat Neosho and Carl Junction, then lost to Springfield Central. At Neosho, the Lady Tigers swept to a 9-0 victory.
Republic scored 27 runs in just two games, beating Buffalo 16-2, then shutting out Hillcrest 11-0, to run its softball record to 3-0 to start the season.
Republic overcame a slow start in its first home game of the season, stringing together three straight touchdown drives to earn a 25-14 win over Nixa Friday. Quarterback Lucas Hayes accounted for more than 240 total yards.

In volleyball, Willard hosted Hillcrest on Thurs- day, Sept. 5, and came away with a straight set victory, 25-15 and 25-14.
The Willard High School softball team, opened their 2019 season with a win over Lebanon, but a loss to Kickapoo.
On Thursday, Sept. 5, the Lady Tigers traveled to Springfield to take on Kicka- poo, and came home with a 5-3 loss.
In volleyball, the Lady Pirates hosted two games last week against Stockton and Greenfield.
On Thursday, Sept. 5, the Lady Pirates lost in straight sets to Stockton, 15-25 and 17-25.
The Willard High School boys soccer team traveled to Sedalia Aug. 30-31 to take part in their tournament and came home with a second place finish.
Willard fell to Sedalia Smith-Cotton in the tournament championship, 2-0, on Aug. 31.
