Republic has only one softball senior, and she made her mark on Senior Night when Webb City came to town Thursday. EmmaLee Essary hit for the cycle — with a single, a double, a triple, and a home run — and added one more double for good measure.

Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs hit a school-record three home runs in one game, and the Lady Tigers won two Saturday games against Jackson and Poplar Bluff. Republic scored a combined 37 runs in the two games, beating Jackson 11-4, then knocking off Poplar Bluff 26-14.

Fullback Kanon Krol spends most of his time blocking for others, but Friday night, he got the ball and made the most of it.

Republic put itself in position to pull a big upset at Webb City, but the Cardinals were too much to overcome in the fourth quarter, escaping with a 35-14 win over Republic at Webb City, Friday.

The Republic volleyball team didn’t lose a set all day in capturing the championship of the Branson Invitational Tournament, Saturday. The Lady Tigers beat Reeds Spring, Summit Christian Academy, and Parkview in morning pool play.

The young Republic softball team finished third in a 16-team field at the Marion C. Early Invitational in Morrisville, winning three of four games to start the year. Freshman Piper Dishman was the winning pitcher in two of the three games, striking out 31 batters in 15 2/3 innings pitched.

A new-look lineup showed promise for the Republic tennis team at the Kickapoo Invitational to open the season over the weekend. Republic won a close match against Central, lost a close one to Bolivar, then lost a rain-shortened match against Kickapoo.

Defending Central Ozark Conference champ Carthage exploded for 42 points in the first half, rolling to a 56-26 win in Carthage to start the 2022 football season, Friday. Carthage running back Luke Gall rushed for 130 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 carries.
