Alan Dale Hart

Alan Dale Hart, 77, of Republic, formerly of Lake City, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in his home Friday, Nov. 6, 2020. He was born Feb. 7, 1943 in Caroll, Iowa, to Ben and Velma (Bartlett) Hart. He was the oldest of two children in the home.Hart graduated from Lake City High School and then attended Buena Vista College in Iowa. He married Bonita Frerichs on Aug. 25, 1963. This union was blessed with three children, Lori, Mike and Allison. Hart was a business owner for over 20 years alongside his father Ben, owning Ben Hart Drainage. He was also a rural route mail carrier for the USPS for over 30 years until his retirement in 2006. He was a board member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jefferson, Iowa for over 30 years. Afterhis retirement, Alan and Bonita enjoyed traveling, they wintered in Florida and loved the beach. Alan also loved to play Pickleball at the Republic Rec Center. But above all, he loved his family. This was even more evident when in his later life, another son, Michael, came into their lives. Hart is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law Randy Alexander.He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Bonita, children; Lori Jones and husband Ted, Mike Hart and wife Jennifer, Allison Davis and husband Beau and Michael Russell and wife Shawn; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren, sister Kathy Alexander as well as many extended family members and countless friends.A visitation was Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020 from 3-4 p.m. in the chapel at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Funeral services followed at 4 p.m.
