Alma Alice Beard

Alma Alice Beard, 94, of Republic, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 in Sonshine Manor, Republic. She was born on April 23, 1924, in Tecumseh, the daughter of John William and Dora Alice (Harris) Dougherty.
Beard was united in marriage to Tony H. Beard on March 29, 1941, and were together 59 years before Tony passed away on Dec. 22, 2000. Others who preceded her in death were her parents; and all of her siblings and their spouses.
Beard is survived by three children and their spouses, Gerald (Pam) Beard, Rita Billows, and Cathie (Stan) Coggin; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Melanie (Casey) Yunger, Lisa (Allen) Shevey, Lori (Jason) Hill, Jason (Michelle) Billows, Brent (Lisa) Billows, Matt (Heather) Billows, Zac (Heather) Coggin, and Beth (Jacob) Nelson; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Beard was a faithful member of the Southside Church of Christ until making her home at Sonshine Manor in 2016. She loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, sewing, gardening, and always helping others.
A gathering of family and friends for a memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at Hood United Methodist Church in the “Gathering Area”, 139 N. Walnut St., Republic, MO 65738, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. A private burial will take place in Wade Chapel Cemetery, Republic. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the People Helping People, P.O.
