Ash Grove Lady Pirates make it to third place game at Walnut Grove Holiday Classic

The Ash Grove girls basketball team has been playing in the Walnut Grove Holiday Classic, while the Pirates have been taking part in the Blue and Gold Tournament over the holiday break.
The Lady Pirates fell to Miller 38-
34 in the semifinals of the Walnut Grove Holiday Classic in Walnut Grove on Friday, Dec. 27.
On Monday, Dec. 23, Ash Grove advanced to the semifinals with a 65-56 victory over Sparta.
The Lady Pirates led 18-13 after the first quarter and increased their lead to 36-35 at the half. Ash Grove held Sparta to five points in
the third quarter, while putting up another 18 points to lead, 54-40 at the end of the quarter. Sparta outscored Ash Grove 16-11 in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the Lady Pirates won the game, 65-56.
Khloe Moad led Ash Grove with 26 points; Emma Eagleburger added 19 points and Kennedi Climer ended the game with 10 points.
Ash Grove is now 6-3 on the season and were scheduled to play against Hollister in the third place game on Monday, Dec. 30, after press time.
On the boys side, the Pirates lost the only two games they played in the Blue and Gold Tournament in Springfield. Ash Grove lost to Springfield Catholic 81-35 on Friday, Dec. 27, and lost to Logan- Rogersville, 79-28, on Thursday, Dec. 26. Sam Moreland had 11 points in the Pirate loss to the Wildcats.
Ash Grove is now 1-9 on the season and will not play again until after the holidays are over.
