Ash Grove Pirate baseballers win three games last week, with dramatics

The Ash Grove High School baseball team won three games last week, while the Lady Pirates softball team went 1-2.

In baseball, Ash Grove had three road games last week, traveling to Pierce City, Diamond and Stockton, winning all three games.
On April 11, the Pirates took on Pierce City, knocking them off, 9-4. Ash Grove scored single runs in the second and fourth innings, two runs in the sixth inning and five runs in the fifth inning to put the game away.
Pirate Draven Zeigler went 1-3 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI’s; Cody Raney was 3-4 with a triple and a double, a run
scored and an RBI and Ethan Gray finished the game 1-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
On Tuesday, April 9, Ash Grove traveled to Diamond and used a five run third inning to win the game, 8-2.
Besides the five run third inning, the Pirates scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Raney went 1-3 with a
home run, a run scored and two RBI’s; Gray was 2-3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI, Zeigler went 2-3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI, Cody Byerly was 1-3 with a double and Dalton Carr went 2-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
The Pirates opened the week traveling to Stockton on Monday, April 8 and had to
hold on for a 4-3 win. Ash Grove scored three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead but Stockton answered back, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game. The Pirates added their final run in the seventh inning to
win 4-3. Billy Hatch went 2-4,
with two doubles and a run scored; Ben Medlin was 2-3
with a double and Zeigler ended the game 1-2 with a double and two runs scored.
Softball
In softball, the Lady Pirates hosted Pleasant Hope on Thursday, April 11, but lost 9-5, hosted Miller on Tuesday, April 9 and won 12-8 and traveled to Pierce City on Monday, April 8 where they lost 3-1.
