Ash Grove Pirate football falls to Pierce City in district tournament opener

In football, the Pirates were the seventh seed in the Class 1, District 2 tourna- ment and had to travel to Pierce City on Friday, Nov. 1, and came home with a 41-0 loss.
The Pirates got off to a good start, holding the ball for 16 plays and over eight minutes in the first quarter but stalled on a fourth down play and turned the ball over to the Eagles.
After a scoreless first quarter, Pierce City’s Trey Sagehorn ran it in from 20 yards out for the first score of the game. With six minutes to go in the half, the Eagle’s Colton O’Hara ran it in from 15 yards to go up 14-0 before halftime.
After an Ash Grove fum- ble, Clayten O’Hara ran it in from the seven yard line to put Pierce City up 21-0 in the second quarter. Eagle’s linebacker Gabriel George scooped up a fumble and ran it in from 40 yards out to put Pierce City up 28-0 with 40 seconds to go in the half.
Pierce City would score a touchdown in the the third and fourth quarter to com- plete their scoring and win the game 41-0.
With the loss, the Pirates ended their season with a 4-6 record.
