Ash Grove Pirate football falls at Stockton in shutout

In the first quarter against the host Stockton Tigers Friday night, Pirate Kyler Reece slips between the defense before being brought down.

The Ash Grove High School football team traveled to Stockton on Friday, Sept. 8, and came home with a 36-0 loss. No statistics for the game was provided by the coaching staff by the time this article was written.
With the loss, Ash Grove drops to 2-1 on the season and dropped to fifth place in the Class 1, District 1 standings. The Pirates are scheduled to travel to Pierce City this Friday night.
Portageville leads the district with 51.67 points, followed by Marionville (51.29 points), Cabool (46.33 points), Miller (44 points), Ash Grove (42 points), Charleston (32.33 points), Hayti (23.67 points) and Pierce City (19.67 points).
 
Lady Pirate volleyball bests Fordland to bring record to .500, looks to Lady Bison Invitational
In volleyball, the Lady Pirates hosted Fordland on Thursday, Sept. 7, and came away with a four-set victory, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23 and 26-24.
“It was a four-set thriller between Fordland and Ash Grove tonight,” said head coach Diana Eiberger. “Both teams fought point for point.”
With the win, Ash Grove moves to 3-3 on the season and were scheduled to travel to Buffalo on Monday, before hosting Lockwood tomorrow night, and ending the week at Buffalo on Saturday in the Lady Bison Invitational.
