Baseball Tigers defeat Parkview, Aurora and Joplin last week

The Willard High School baseball team continues to look good, picking up three more wins last week and being named as the second seed in their upcoming Class 5, District 12 tournament.
The Tigers traveled to Parkview on Saturday, May 4, and knocked off both the Vikings and Aurora in a doubleheader.
Against Parkview, Willard scored three runs in the first inning; two runs in the second inning, single runs in the third and fourth innings and four runs in the fifth inning
to beat the Vikings 11-0. Ian Poulson went 1-4 with a double, Garrett Rice was 2-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Ethan Thompson went 2-4 with a double and two runs scored and Tyler Harre finished 2-3 with a double and two RBI’s. Willard pounded Aurora, scoring 13 runs off of 10 hits to knock off the Houn’
Dawgs, 13-1. The Tigers scored two
runs in the first inning; one run in the second inning, three runs in both the third and sixth innings and four runs in the fifth inning. Au- rora scored their lone run in the fifth inning.
Rice went 3-4 with a home run and a double, scoring three runs in driving in four; Harre was 3-5 with a triple and two RBI’s and Grant Harris was 1-3 with two RBI’s.
Willard opened up the week traveling to Joplin on Thursday, May 2, and coming home with a 2-0 win.
The Tigers scored single runs in the second and fourth innings. Reece Dawson went 2-3 with an RBI in the win.
Willard will be the second seed in the Class 5, District 12 tournament in Lee’s Summit later this week.
Lee’s Summit is the top
seed; followed by Willard, Raymour-Peculiar, Belton, Hillcrest and Springfield Central.
The tournament will get underway on Saturday, May 11, as Belton will play Hillcrest and Raymour- Peculiar will play Springfield Central. The semi finals will be played on Tuesday, May 14 with the winner of Belton and Hillcrest playing Lee’s Summit West and the winner of Raymour-Peculiar and Springfield Central taking on Willard. The championship game will be played on Wednesday, May 15.
