Billy Gene Newlon

Billy Gene Newlon, 91, of Springfield, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2019 at Mercy Hospital. Newlon was born Monday, May 14, 1928 in Monett, to Harry and Susie Newlon.
Newlon was a graduate of Central High School and Missouri College. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corps, a career from which he retired. When he re- turned home, he worked and retired from the Greene County Library.
He was united in marriage to Reba Sue Norton on Aug. 15, 1955. He enjoyed fishing, gar- dening, hunting, hiking, camping, archery, whittling, sketching, and reading.
Newlon is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Reba Sue, his son, Harry Gene Newlon, and siblings: J.D., Louis, Mattie Ruth, and Ruby. He is survived by five children, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Newlon began at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019. Funeral services were on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. with military honors following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
