BONNIE NADINE EVANS

Bonnie Nadine Evans, 88, of Republic passed away Friday, July 28, 2023. She was born April 22, 1935, in Gardner, Kan. to H.C. and Mildred Inez (Miller) Cornell. She met Walter Evans in Joplin, and they were married Nov. 21, 1959, at the Hornet Church, in Hornet.
Nadine and Walter lived in Joplin for many years and moved to Springfield in 1969, for Walter’s new job at Kraft Foods.
Evans had worked at a few factories and Baldwin Photo Studio, in Springfield. Above all, she was a homemaker. She also volunteered for Vacation Bible School at Northside Christian Church.
Nadine and Walter bought a motorhome and traveled for 10 years. They lived in the motorhome at a park for the summer. They stayed at several parks over the years. They volunteered at the campgrounds, and sometimes worked at the gate, checking in campers. They attended Republic Free Will Baptist Church. There, Evans was in charge of the Secret Santa group and led a craft group for the ladies in the church.
Evans is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Cecil Cornell and Ray Cornell; a son Mike Evans; and a grandson Tanner Silverman.
Evans is survived by her husband, Walter, of 66 years; daughters Deborah Boatright, her husband Doug of Republic, and Sue Grayson, her husband Carthel of Guntersville, Ala.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers Frank Cornell, his wife Janet of Lee’s Summit, and Jerry Neal Cornell, his wife Linda of Huron; and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, at Lindsey Cemetery, Republic.
