Charles William Boots

Charles William Boots passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born March 13, 1934 in Dumont, Iowa, the eldest child of Elvon and Hilda Boots.
Boots graduated from Dumont High School in 1952 and served in the US Army as Specialist 2nd Class, from June 1954 to May 1957. He attended the University of Iowa before transferring to a two-year electronics school in Kansas City, from 1959-1961. On March 18, 1961, he was united in marriage to Frances Pool, the love of his life. To this union two daughters were born, Cynthia Faith and Gwendolyn Marie.
Boots is survived by his wife, Frances; daughters, Cynthia Fast and husband Steve, Gwendolyn Logan and husband Mike; sister, Lois Oberheu and husband David of Waterloo, Iowa; brother, Larry Boots of Minneapolis, Minn; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren.
He was employed in Albuquerque, N.M. a number of years for Sandia Laboratory, but in 1971 he transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration. In 1978 the family moved to Springfield and he retired from the FAA in May 1996. Boots was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Willard.
Visitation was Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 from 1 p.m. until service time at Willard First Baptist Church. Funeral services began at 2 p.m., at the church, with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery.
