Darrel Johnston

Darrel Johnston, Billings, passed away Feb. 26, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born May 6, 1934 in Mountain View, to Raymond and Merle Johnston. Johnston accepted Jesus Christ as his personal lord and savior as a youth. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Billings for over 70 years and the music director for 35 years.
Johnston married the love of his life, Martha Brown on Feb. 21, 1953 and their marriage thrived for 67 years. He joined the U.S. Army in August of 1953 and served in Alaska. He started working at Kraft Foods in Springfield in 1955 and retired after 42 years.  Together they traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Also, spending three months in Alaska.
Johnston had a passion for life and never met a stranger.  He was always so proud of his family and loved to visit with others.
Johnston was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Brosseau. He is survived by his wife, Martha of the home; daughters LuAnn and Mark Hudson, Linda and David McCroskey. He has five grandchildren along with six great-grandchildren. Also, a brother and two sisters; Billy and Wanda Johnston, Joan and Leo Faucett,  and Donna and Justin Turton along with several nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Herb Plowman and Jimmy Don Salchow.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church.
