Donald “Don” Clutter, Jr.

Donald “Don” Clutter, Jr., 72, of Springfield, died June 13, 2020. Clutter was born Nov. 18, 1947 to Donald and Melba (Shaw) Clutter, in Kansas City. He was the oldest son of four children.Clutter was a member of the first graduating class (1966) of Oak Park High School in Kansas City. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the states, he was employed as a vice president in loans at a local bank. He married Kay Alexander in 1982 and to this union they were blessed with a son, Joshua. Clutter lovingly adopted Kay’s daughter Shani and loved her as his own. He worked in telecommunications with both AT&T and Sprint until his retirement in 2011. After his retirement, he was a member of Soldiers of the Cross with First Baptist Church in Orrick.In 2015, Clutter relocated to Springfield to be closer to his son Josh and granddaughter Abigail. He became a member of First Baptist Church of Brookline. Clutter is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Donna Ruth Clutter, Bob Clutter, Steve Clutter and Chris Clutter as well as a grandson Nicholas Aldridge.Clutter is survived by his wife, Kay, daughter; Shani (Jeff) Nichols, son; Josh Clutter, three grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends. A visitation was Friday, June 19, from 10-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Brookline, with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to 1st Baptist Church of Brookline’s Bereavement Fund.
