Donald “Don” Rea Stevens

Donald “Don” Rea Stevens, 86, Nixa, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 with his family by his side at Cox South Hospital, Springfield. He was born Oct. 27, 1934 in Delaware, Ark. to John and Anna (Jackson) Stevens. He was one of 10 children of the home.
He was a graduate of Springfield High School. He married Joretta Maples on Feb. 17, 1963 and had celebrated 38 years before her passing in 2000. To this union they were blessed with one son Mark.
Stevens was employed with City Utilities for 38-plus years until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Joretta, and nine siblings.
He is survived by his son Mark (Donna) Stevens, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation has been scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at Meadors Funeral Home, Clever. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m.., Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 at Union Ridge Cemetery, Clever.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Disabled Veterans Association in memory of Donald Stevens.
