Douglas D. Auman

Douglas D. Auman, 80, Kimberling City, died April 27, 2020. He was born June 14, 1939.
Auman is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Dana and Suzette Auman of Hoffman Estates, Ill., his daughter Denise Auman of Fort Smith, Ark.; his daughter Danielle Auman of Fayetteville, Ark.; his five grandchildren; two sisters Linda Johnson and Reta Neuhaus; and two brothers Dennis Auman and Dave Auman; his best friend of 12 years Polly Van Houten of Kimberling City; as well as extended family and dear friends throughout the United States.
Auman raised his children with his wife Sally in Willard, from 1969 until 1985. After living for a number of years in Fort Smith, Ark., Corsicana, Texas, and Woodstock, Ga., Doug and Sally returned to the Ozarks, which they greatly loved, in 1998.
Auman was a mechanical engineer, having received his masters degree from the University of Missouri, Rolla. While living in Springfield, he worked for Lilly Tulip.
During his retirement years he enjoyed traveling with Polly and spending time with his children, his grandchildren, his siblings, his nieces and nephews.
Auman was active in various congregations throughout his life, including Walnut Street Christian Church and Brentwood Christian Church of Springfield, and Kimberling City United Methodist Church of Kimberling City.
Funeral services were Friday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Attendance was limited to immediate family, but the service was broadcast via Zoom. Visitation was Thursday, April 30, from 4-6 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
