Edna Mae McCarty

Edna Mae McCarty, 103, of Springfield, passed away peacefully July 24, 2020.McCarty was born in Parsons, Kan. April 26, 1917. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Dale W. McCarty. They moved to Missouri in 1944 and purchased a farm west of Springfield. Dale passed away on May 24, 1997. McCarty was active in the Greene County Extension Club. She and Dale became devoted members of Yeakley Chapel in 1946. She was active in the church and blessed to play piano from 1972 until she was 99 years young. McCarty loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends.McCarty is survived by a son Jerry McCarty (Esther); son-in-law Max Norman (daughter Virginia); six grandchildren, Teresa Duncan (Rick), Lana Bowerman (Doug), Matthew Norman (Tara), Bob McCarty (Ronda), John McCarty (Stacy), Edward McCarty; 16 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Florence Oler, a brother, Vernon Oler and wife Nettie, (swept away in the 1976 Colorado flood); sister, Mildred Edson (2008); daughter Virginia Norman (2010); daughter-in-law Esther McCarty (2016); grandson Jim McCarty (2018); and many cherished family and friends.Graveside services were at 10 a.m., July 28, 2020 at Yeakley Chapel Cemetery with DJ Schoolcraft officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Yeakley Cemetery, c/o Jerry Hicks, 930 Roanoke Lane, Marshfield, MO 65706.
