Edward Lee Minor

Edward Lee Minor born March 4, 1926 in Fair Grove, passed away Monday Feb. 10, 2020. He had 12 brothers and sisters.
Minor served in the United States Armed Services as a sergeant with the European Theater of Operation and ran the motor pool. Upon coming home he was self-employed before going to work for Ericson Transport in 1954 and later for Yellow Transit Freight Line as an over the road truck driver; he drove 4 million miles throughout his career. He also graduated from auctioneer school in Iowa.  
Minor met the love of his life, Retha (Macom) on a blind date in April of 1949. They wed on
June 5, 1956 in Clarksdale, Miss., and were married 63 years. The couple moved to Baxter Springs, Kan., in 1965 and built a family there until coming back to the Springfield area and residing in Republic, in 1978. They spent many winters as snow birds in Weslaco, Texas, after his retirement in 1988.
Minor loved spending time at Table Rock Lake in Cape Fair, where the family spent many years vacationing. He enjoyed hunting and boating and could fix anything that was broken. Most of all, he loved his family and doted on his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Golda (Richmond) Minor and nine of his siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Retha of the home; his two sons, Eric (Becky) Minor of Republic, and Edward Wynn Minor, Elkland; and daughter Erin (Bruce) Loveland, Republic, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.
