Ernestine Hammons

Ernestine Hammons, Ash Grove, daughter of Ernest and Gladys (White) Bowling, was born on June 14, 1936 in Galena, and departed this life on Nov. 18, 2019, at the age of 83.
Hammons was a lifelong resident of the area who worked as a seamstress at Haggles Garment Factory. She was a member of a quilting club and the New Dawn United Pentecostal Church, Aurora.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Hammons; one son, Stephen Hammons; daughter, Carol Sue Hammons; brother, Bob Bowling and sisters, Maxine Hale and Ilene Edwards.
Survivors include: one son, James Hammons and his wife, Debra of Ash Grove; two brothers, Dewey Bowling of Galena, and Richard Bowling of Galena; five sisters, Joan Crane of Lebanon, Patsy Asher of Niangua, Sheryl Sawyer of Elsey, Linda Medley of Lebanon, and Doris Thompson of Reeds Spring; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 in Stumpff Funeral Chapel, Crane. Funeral services followed the visitation at noon with Pastor Mickey Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Crane Community Cemetery under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home, Crane.
