Evalyn Mae Winfree

Evalyn Mae Winfree, 88, of Billings, died peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2019, surrounded by her fam- ily, in Republic Nursing and Rehab, Republic. She was born on Jan. 10, 1931, in Council Grove, Kan., the daughter of Victor and Eva Mae (Jewel) Kearn.
Winfree was a faithful member of Hurley Baptist Church. She married Walter Winfree on Feb. 14, 1948. She worked at the garment factory for many years, as they also raised beef cattle. Eventually, they both quit their jobs and worked side by side to handle the dairy and cattle farming.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, crochet- ing, and especially loved spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Walter; her parents; and two brothers, Ardell and Calvin Kearn.
Winfree is survived by son and his wife, Larry J. and Phyllis Winfree; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Danny Viles; three grandchildren, eight great-grand- children; and two future great-great-grandchildren, due in the fall; a sister, Wilma Winfree; and a host of extended family and friends.
A visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic Chapel. The funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, in the Hurley Baptist Church, 5995 State Hwy A, Hurley, MO 65675. Burial followed the service in Union Ridge Cemetery, Clever.
