Faye Eula Jones

Faye Eula Jones, 89, of Republic, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born April 22, 1929, in Roubidoux, Texas County to the late Green Washington and Edna Mae (Boston) Wallace. She was the last to survive of seven siblings, of whom she and her twin brother, Ray, were the youngest.
Jones was married to the late Raymond Jones for 61 years. She is survived by their four children, Darrell Jones, Lois Robinson, Sharon Jones, and LaRae Jones, all of Springfield or Republic. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Jordan Jones, Whitney Hoodenpyle, and Sarah Smith.
Growing up, Faye’s favorite activity was helping with the farm work with her father. She also enjoyed playing sports even before girls had teams. And she did actually walk miles both ways to school in the winter, as she had the frostbitten fingers to prove it.
Jones graduated high school from Houston, Mo., in 1947. She went on to become a teacher, starting in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 18. She later received her degree from Southwest Teachers College, currently named Missouri State University. She retired at the age of 65 from Crane Schools after more than 32 years in education, in order to babysit her granddaughter Jordan. Jones also taught Sunday school class at Republic Assembly of God where she was a longtime member. Jones was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a four-time cancer survivor.
A visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018 in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic. Family and friends may share online condolences at www.meadorsfuneralhome.com.
