Gary Lane Short

Gary Lane Short, 62, passed away May 12, 2022.  He was a graduate of Republic High School, class of 1977.   
Short loved farming, milking and showing registered Holstein cattle, managing his own hay hauling crew, raising beef cattle, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed being a partner in the family Century Farm, and he took pride in selecting and raising his prize Holstein bull, Joki Astronaut Star, winning many championships and an All-American nomination.
He was also a fantastic athlete, excelling in basketball in school and softball in later years, and he was passionate about coaching his son’s little league basketball and baseball teams.
The majority of his career was spent at Smitty’s Supermarkets/ Albertson’s as Warehouse Receiving Manager/Coordinator Assistant Supervisor-Program Trainer and he later worked at Missouri State University as Central Receiving Manager.

Short is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Jean Short, and sister, LuDena Hunt.
He is survived by his wife Lou Ann; son Eric (Ashley); brother Greg; sister DyAnna (Ron) Shaver; brother-in-law Mark Hunt; two grandchildren; Eric’s mother Carolyn Price; other family members and countless friends.

Visitation was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic. Services were at 2 p.m. with burial following at Wade Chapel Cemetery.
