Gene Arndt

Gene Arndt departed this life at 10:49 p.m. Jan. 7, 2020, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield. He was born Sept. 22, 1926 in Billings, the son of Claude and Freda (King) Arndt.
Arndt joined the Merchant Marines upon graduation from high school serving on ships in the South Pacific. Upon return from the war, he returned to the family farm and built it into a successful enterprise where he raised his family and resided throughout his life.
He began building homes along the way and became a well-known developer in the surrounding area.
Arndt was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Delbert and sister Cleo, Mary his wife of 58 years and an infant son.
Arndt is survived by three children and their spouses, Stan and Jan and Jennifer and Jerry all of Billings, and Terry and Rita of Niangua: four grandchildren and their spouses, seven great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.
Private services are planned at a later date.
