Genevieve Fortner Creed

Genevieve Fortner Creed, 95, passed away Thurs- day, Feb. 21, 2019, at the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility. Creed was born May 23, 1923, in Morrisville, to Delbert and Grace Christy Hall.
Creed was married to Winfred (Duke) Fortner in 1941 and to this union three children were born. They shared over 26 years together before Duke’s
passing in 1967. In 1986, Genevieve and Frances Creed were united in marriage and they shared over 27 years together until Frances passed in 2013.
Creed was a homemaker. She was formerly employed at Lily Tulip of Springfield and, for 25 years, worked as a Registered Nurse at Cox North Hospital. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church.
Creed is survived by three sons, Larry Fortner and his wife, Helen; Terry Fortner and his wife, Debbie; and Tom Fortner; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Creed is preceded in death by her parents; hus- bands, Winfred (Duke) Fortner and Frances Creed; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rick Walls officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
