Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodriguez

Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodriguez passed away in Ozark, Jan. 4, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born at home in Limon, Colo. in April of 1931, the daughter of Jose and Marea (Navarrete) Rodriguez. She was baptized Guadalupe Rodriguez Navarrete on May 3, 1931. The family lived in Watkins, Colo. as her father was employed by the Union Pacific railroad. She graduated from William Smith High School in Aurora, Colo. on May 31, 1950. She then worked her early years in bookbinding enterprises and later in the airline industry. She was married to Jimmie Gene Curnutt of Northview, in September of 1949 and gave birth to three children (Victoria, Mary, and Jim) over the next four years. She divorced in 1954 and married her second husband, Donald O. Gardner of Billings, in 1954 until his passing in August of 1974. In July of 1990, she married for her third and final time to Wes Maupin (retired Air Force) until his death on Jan. 3, 2003. Rodriguez is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a daughter, Victoria. Survivors include her daughter Mary, and son-in-law John Padgett, son Jim and wife Kathryn Curnutt, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her sister Rosa Padilla of Denver, Colo., two sisters-in-law; Frances Rodriquez and Jackie Rodriquez, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation was at 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at Meadors Funeral Home, Billings. A graveside service followed at noon at Rose Hill Cemetery in Billings, with her second husband Donald O. Gardner.
