James Douglas Dickenson

James Douglas Dickenson, 55, of Marionville passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family in the early morning of Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was born in San Bernadino, Calif. on June 20, 1966 to Rebecca Ann Pendergraft and Everett Douglas Dickenson.

After graduating from Pierce City in 1984, Dickenson decided to serve his country by joining the US Navy. During his seven years of active duty, he completed multiple deployments on the John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier.

He met the love of his life Sharon (Johnson) in May of 1989 and married on Dec. 8, 1989. Together they shared 32 years of marriage while proudly raising three sons, Derek, Brent and Blake.

After Dickenson was honorably discharged in 1992, he and his family settled in Marionville. There he continued to serve his community on city council, as well as the city fire department.

He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Johnson and his mother, Rebecca.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; sons Derek (Kristin) Johnson of Marionville, Brent (Michelle) Dickenson of Marionville and Blake Dickenson of Marionville; seven grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews; siblings Tim Dickenson of Lincoln, Neb. and Tammy Duggan of Springfield. He is also survived by his father in-law Ralph Johnson and brothers in-law, Rick (Linda) Johnson, Danny Johnson and David Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadors Funeral Home for the purpose of continuing his ministry to help those who are homeless.

A funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Faith Gospel Church in Aurora, with burial following at Pritchett Cemetery in Halltown.
