James Lewis Lacey

James Lewis Lacey, 95, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, in Springfield.

Lacey was born in Pitcher, Okla., on March 15, 1927, to Herbert and Anna Mae Lacey. He grew up on farms in southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri.  Immediately after high school graduation, he joined the US Army and served in World War II. He held many jobs after the war including designing water cooling towers and log cabins, as well as doing iron work and various construction jobs. He enjoyed participating in the VFW for many years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Republic.

Lacey leaves behind his wife of 25 years Lois Lacey; sons Steven Lacey (Donna) and Michael Lacey (Pam); his siblings Bonnie Krenning, Fred Lacey, Walter Lacey (Gail), and Carol Lacey. He is also survived by a large family of nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and the extended family of his wife, Lois.

Lacey was preceded in death by his wife Velma, his youngest son Kelly and his wife Kathleen. His brothers Donald Mast, Jesse Mast, Lonnie Mast, Francis Mast, Alvin Mast, Bob Lacey, Murrel and Earl Lacey.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Meadors Funeral Home, 314 N. Main Street in Republic. A luncheon will follow at Calvary Baptist Church, 804 US-60 in Republic. The burial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road in Springfield at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Calvary Baptist Church or a favorite charity.
