James A. Mitchell

James A. Mitchell, 94, of Willard, passed away July 13, 2021, at his home. He was born in Chadwick, to Tandy and Ida Mitchell on March 23, 1927.
He attended Bradleyville High School until he was drafted into World War II in 1944, where he served in the Army Air Forces until 1946.
James married Gracie Magdaline Paul on Jan. 21, 1947. They had four children: Patty, Dewayne, Robert, and a stepson, Carl Cossey.
Mitchell was preceded by death by his parents Tandy and Ida Mitchell; his wife, Gracie Mitchell; and his stepson, Carl. He is survived by his children, Patricia Kettering of Willard, Dewayne Mitchell of Ozark, and Robert Mitchell of Springfield; and 50-plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mitchell had his own business, Mitchell Electric for over 30 years. He was the very first Greene County electrical inspector.
Mitchell will be laid to rest next to his beloved Gracie.
His care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
