Jean Marie (Aitken) Heston
Jean Marie (Aitken) Heston, 89, Republic passed away Sept. 6, 2018. She was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Canada, to Ernest P. and Annie V. Aitken.
Heston attended St. Joseph High School and graduated from St. Michael’s College and Sisters of Mercy Covent, in St. George’s. She worked as a clerical secretary during the Korean War and on the Ernest Harmon Air Force Base. She loved dancing, attending concerts and playing in many theatrical musicals. It was there that she met a young American Air Force service man, named Wayne E. Heston. They were married Sept. 19, 1953. After his tour they moved to Missouri and raised seven children. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Billings, a member of the Women’s (P.C.C.W) and a volunteer with the Sisters of Queen of Heaven Solitude.
Heston is preceded in death by: her husband Wayne E. Heston; her parents; her Sister Joan E. Aitken; daughters Carolyn (Heston) Goure and Jacklyn I. Heston; and one grandson. She is survived by: sons, Dirk L. Heston, Kirk E. (Sheila) Heston, John A. (Linda) Heston, Bart W. Heston; daughter Joan E. Heston; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held Oct. 4, 2018, at 12 p.m. (her 90th birthday) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 306 NW Washington Ave, Billings. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood, Springfield. Cremation is under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf funeral home, Springfield.
