Kester C. Womack

Kester C. Womack, Republic passed away peacefully Sept. 1, 2022, surrounded by family he loved dearly. He was born on May 15, 1930, in Pineland, Texas, weighing just shy of 15 pounds.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served as a personal bodyguard for 4- Star General Curtis LeMay.
Womack was discharged in 1953, and on Aug. 15, 1953, he married Alice Dean Boddie. They adopted two children, Matt and Ellen. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1958 and became an ordained deacon in 1964. He finished his career at DuPont, in Orange, Texas, until he retired in 1985 as a training coordinator.
After his retirement from DuPont, the family relocated to Republic, to make custom gun stocks for a local company. He won many awards and ribbons for his elaborate wood carvings, some of them are still on display today.
Womack is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and siblings.
Left to mourn his passing are his two children, numerous grand- and great-grandchildren, one honorary grandson Grant Selvey, his wife Ashley and their twin boys, as well as extended family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Republic, funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
