Lady Pirates go 1-2 hosting Ash Grove Lady Pirate Classic tourney Ash Grove boys team gets first win over Jasper, falls to Lockwood, Lamar

The Ash Grove boys and girls basketball teams each won one game last week, as the girls hosted the Ash Grove Lady Classic and the boys traveled to the Dennis Cornish Classic in Lockwood.
At Ash Grove, the Lady Pirates won their opener over Aurora, 61-46 on Nov. 26, but lost their remaining two games in the tournament.
Against Marshfield on Nov. 29, Ash Grove got 16 points from Emma Eagleburger and eight points from Riley Hammons but lost to the Lady Jays, 62-46.
The Lady Pirates had to play one the state’s best Class 1 teams in Walnut Grove on Nov. 27 and fell to the Lady Tigers, 61-38. Eagleburger again led the way with 12 points and Hammons added 11 points in the loss.
In their opening round win over Aurora, the Lady Pirates got 19 points from Kennedi Climer; 13 points from Khloe Moad and nine points each from Briley Bagley and Hammons.
Ash Grove was scheduled to host Stockton on Monday night and will travel to Greenfield on Thursday night.

Pirates get first win    
The Ash Grove boys team traveled to Lockwood last week to take part in the Dennis Cornish Classic.
The Pirates got their first win of the season by defeating Jasper, 55-50 on Dec. 1. Briley King led Ash Grove with 24 points and Devin Blake added 15 points in the win.
Ash Grove played host Lockwood on Nov. 30 but lost in a close contest, 49-47. King led the Pirates with 16 points; Sam Moreland had 14 points and Draven Zeigler added 12 points in the loss.
Ash Grove opened the tournament up with an opening round loss to Lamar, 56-25. Zeigler led the Pirates with 13 points and King added nine points.
The Pirates were scheduled to travel to Stockton on Tuesday night and will host Greenfield on Friday night.
