Lady Tigers softball wins two league games before week-ending lopsided loss to Kickapoo Lady Chiefs

Republic softball began its week with two conference wins, knocking off Willard and Joplin. Against Willard, Avery Romans pitched a complete game and Jaiden Gibbs homered to help Republic pick up a 7-3 win. Kaitlyn Ragsdale, Megan Weis, A.J. Fenske, and Romans each had two hits for the Lady Tigers. Ro- mans pitched seven innings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits. She struck out five and didn’t walk a batter.
Republic followed that up with a three-home run performance against Joplin. Ragsdale led off the first inning with a long ball. Later in the inning, Whitney Weaver hit her first career varsity home run. Fenske homered later in the game. She finished with three base hits and three runs batted in.
The week ended with a lopsided loss to Kickapoo at home on Friday. The Lady Chiefs scored 12 runs in the final inning to beat Republic 24-5.
