LARRY JOE BISHOP

Larry Joe Bishop,79, of Aurora passed away peacefully on the evening of Dec. 11, 2023, in his home where he had been battling kidney failure. He was born on April 7, 1944, to Loreta and Jim Bishop in Springfield.
He had three children: Kelly Joe, Sheri Jo and Sammy Joe Bishop.
He lived in the Springfield, Republic and Rogersville area for most of his life before moving to Aurora in recent years, where he could be closer to his children.
He worked in the asphalt industry for decades. He not only was self-employed on and off throughout his career but also worked for contractors such as Masters Jackson, Larry Ball and Leo Journagan Construction. He raised his children in the construction industry and as a result they all remain active in both asphalt and asphalt maintenance.
He is survived by his children; Kelly (Heather) Bishop, Sheri (Richard) Fulp, and Sam Bishop; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Anna Mae) Bishop and Ed Bishop, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sally Mae; granddaughter, Whitney Nicole; and a sister-in-law, Carol Bishop.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 15. Interment was at Manley Cemetery.
