Lawrence Elton King

Lawrence Elton King was born on March 23, 1945 in St. Louis to Pearl Meadows (King), died Monday, Jan. 27, 2020 at the age of 74. His final days were spent
at his home in rural Stone County in the company of his daughters, lifelong friends, caring neighbors, and his faithful dog, Rusty.
Larry and Patricia Ann Johnson were married 26 years and had two daughters. In 1996, Larry married Willa Sue Clayton, who was not only his sweetheart but a constant hunting, fishing and gardening companion. Together they happily lived a fulfilling, off-the-grid life until Sue lost a hard-fought battle with cancer in 2018.
King was a talented carpenter and general contractor. He owned and operated L.E. Construction Company for most of his life. He was known for his high standards of quality and precision; his honesty in all business dealings; and his work ethic, integrity and generosity.
King is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Ann King (Scott Robinson) and Kristein Susan King; two grand-daughters, Lucia Emmalee Bourgeois and Ella Grace Bourgeois; a sister, Theresa King McMurray; many nieces and nephews; and a handful of true friends who meant the world to him. There will be no funeral service. Friends who would like to join an intimate celebration of his life later this spring should contact one of his daughters.
