Leona (Wolff) Smith

Leona (Wolff) Smith, 89, of Sunrise Beach, formerly of Springfield, passed away on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, in the Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach. She was born on Feb. 4, 1929, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Otto E. and Bessie (Curtis) Wolff.
She was united in marriage to Jack Walter Smith on Nov. 26, 1949, and she enjoyed 60 years of marriage as a missionary, evangelist and pastor’s wife before Jack past away on Oct. 21, 2010. Others who preceded her in death were her parents and seven siblings.
Smith enjoyed church activities; baking; and cooking, however, she most loved spending time with her family, especially the children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Naomi Childers and husband David, Ruth Verdot, and Jacklyn Phillips; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Juanita Horn, Emma Wontor, and Norma Pavolowskie; and numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Family and friends may share online condolences at www.meadorsfuneralhome.com.
