Mary Delores (Ebersold) Fisher

Mary Delores (Ebersold) Fisher passed away July 12, 2020.
Fisher was born on Oct. 19, 1934 on the Boaz homestead to Mary (Scott) and Forrest Ghan. She graduated from Clever High School.
While attending Southwest Baptist College, now known as Southwest Baptist University, she married a ministerial student, Bob Ebersold. They raised three sons while serving churches in Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Florida and Mississippi.  
After graduating from John Brown University in 1977, she took up teaching. In 1984 she finished her master’s degree from Webster University in St. Louis and later received a certificate for School Administration.
In 1990, she married a McDonald Douglas engineer, Jack Fisher. By 2000, they returned to her childhood homestead, bought a travel trailer and explored the west before Jack’s death in 2007.
Fisher she served as president of the Christian County Retired Teachers Association. For 21 years she substituted for Nixa Schools in all 11 buildings, cherishing every moment, teaching music and reading to hundreds of students.
For 20 years Fisher served as secretary for the All School Alumni and planned many reunions. She donated the first flag and pole for the new Grade School Building in memory of her mother, Mary Ghan, who taught 3rd grade there for 33 years. Each year she presented a $500 college scholarship to a future grade school teacher.
She was an active member of the PEO chapter DC and Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Clever.
Fisher is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Ghan. She is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law.
The funeral will be held at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church on July 15, 2020 at noon with graveside service immediately following across the street at Frazier Cemetery near her homestead.
In lieu of flowers, she has requested donations to be made to Missouri Baptist Children’s Home at 11300 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044. Their website is mbch.org
