Mary Lois Sill

Mary Lois Sill, 94, of Springfield, passed away May 13, 2022, in Altus, Okla. She was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Jasper, Ark., to Joseph and Bonnie (Weaver) Carter.

Sill graduated from Jasper High in 1946 and enrolled at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (“SAGU”) the same year in Ovilla, Texas, where she also attended a small community church. She married Ralph Sill March 25, 1948 in Ovilla, Texas. In 1951, they moved to Waldron, Kan. to pastor a small community church. In July, they were blessed with a baby girl. The small family moved several more times, and eventually they moved to Springfield, in 1973 where they attended Park Crest Assembly of God Church and in recent years, Battlefield Assembly of God Church.

During her career, Sill worked as a dental assistant and as an election judge on the Greene County Board of Elections. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, and painting. She was a member of Hillbilly Gardeners Garden Club in Springfield.

Sill is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bonnie Carter; her husband of over 63 years, Alva Ralph Sill; their daughter, Alva Ruth “Ruthie” Miller; son-in-law, John Miller; and two brothers, Samuel Henry Carter and James Floyd Carter.
Sill is survived by her sister-in-law, Geneva Carter of Jasper, Ark.; niece, Pam Mudela of Oklahoma City, Okla.; extended family and friends.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Jasper Cemetery, in Jasper, Ark., under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield.

Care was been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
