Mary Lynn Hanafin

Mary Lynn Hanafin, 87, of Clever passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born in Stone County, the daughter of Walter and Margie (Jackson) Gold.
Hanafin grew up in rural Stone County and spent her entire life in the area. She married Leon Hanafin and to this union, they had five boys. She loved high school sports and went to watch even if her boys weren’t playing. Later on, she was known as “Grandma Mary” by many. She was also an active member of the Clever Methodist Church.
Hanafin is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, her parents, and two sisters, Connie Wilson and Carol Gipson.
She is survived by her sons Doug, Pete (Debbie), Dan (Teresa), Dusty and Dana (Denise); 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. A celebration of life will be that night from 7-9 p.m. at The Gillis Place, 892 Jasmine Road, Clever. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society or Access Hospice.
