Michael L. Brennan

Michael L. Brennan, 71, of Republic, passed away at his home on Wednesday,Sept. 30, 2020. He was born on Oct. 31, 1948 to Lyle and Mary (Hickman) Brennan in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the second born child in a family of four children.After Brennan graduated from high school, he enlisted in the US Army. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was a highly decorated soldier, earning a Distinguished Flying Cross, Triple Star, Bronze Star as well as manyother medals and ribbons.Upon returning home, he married Joyce Sanders, whom he had been dating since middle school. This union was blessed with one daughter, Amanda. He worked for 20 plus years at Hillyard Floorcare until his retirement in 2012. Healso worked for Springfield Public Schools.Brennan is preceded in death by his parents. Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce, daughter Amanda and husband Jimmy Haynes, grandsons; Landon, Brendan and CollinHaynes, siblings; Gwen Herman, Greg Brennan and Randy Brennan, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Brennan’s honor to The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri (3161 W Norton Rd, Springfield, MO 65803). A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 from 6–8 p.m. in the chapel at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial will take place privately at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
