New queue road officially open for business for Republic school traffic
Superintendent Matt Pearce cuts the ribbon along with David Cameron, the city administrator of Republic, to celebrate the opening of a new queue road behind two Republic elementary schools Thursday, Aug. 17. The road will hope to reduce congestion on the nearby intersection of 174 and N. Main by providing parents a dedicated street to line up and pick up their students.
"Before we had this, we would back up traffic onto Main Street and even onto 174,” said Pearce. "The most important thing for us is the safety of our students and our families that are coming to school every day."
The project was more than two years in the making and required a joint effort from the city of Republic and Republic schools to make it a reality.
