Newbies Jett, Cobb now make up Ash Grove Public Works Dept.

The city of Ash Grove recently hired two men to fill the vacancies in the Public Works Department. Kolton Jett and Tyler Cobb, both of Ash Grove, were hired by the city on Monday, Feb. 27. Jett is the new public works director, while Cobb is the new public works employee.
As a public works employee, Cobb said most of his duties are focused on maintaining the city’s appearance and infrastructure.
“Around the first of the month,” he said, “we do meter checking. (I) walk the ground (and) check all the water meters. Then, from that point on, (we’re) trimming trees, picking up limbs, trash and doing dirt work.”
Jett, as the public works director, does much of the same work as Cobb, but also performs some supervisory duties, as well.
“(I find) things every day for these guys to do,” he said, “deal with the people in City Hall and make sure we keep all of our lines and everything maintained.”
Cobb and Jett came to work for the city with experience from other jobs. Cobb did road construction work with APAC, where he operated a variety of equipment and did shovel raking. Jett formerly worked for a company out of Arkansas that made rebar, where he was an iron worker and a foreman.
“It’s kind of the same line of maintaining and keeping track of everything,” he said.
Both men said they enjoy their new jobs with the city. Cobb said he particularly enjoys interacting with the people in Ash Grove, while Jett said he likes the variety of tasks he and his crew perform each day.
“You never do the same thing every day,” he said.”(Whether it’s) digging up a water meter out and putting in new setter, or working at the park, trimming, mowing, it’s going to be something different every day.”
