Orpha Dale Thompson

Orpha Dale Thompson, 93, of Aldrich passed away April 28, 2022. Thompson was born in Eudora, June 21, 1928, to Harry and Margaret (Brewer) Dodson. On Aug. 27, 1945, she and Allen “Buck” Thompson were united in marriage and shared over 76 years together. To this union three sons were born, Allen Wade, Rickey and Timothy Thompson.

Thompson was saved at an early age at Eudora Baptist Church and served faithfully her entire life. She was a dedicated teacher of the 4- and 5-year-old class, Bible school, helped with regional church building with Missouri Baptist Mission, and also was the church clerk for 26 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star organization.  

Thompson is preceded in death by her parents; son Allen Wade Thompson, and brother Joey Coleman Dodson.

Thompson is survived by her husband Buck Thompson; sons, Rickey Thompson and wife Jeanne, of Carthage; Timothy Thompson and wife Sandy, of Springfield; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Bernard Dodson; other family and friends.  

Visitation was at 1 p.m. until service time, Monday, May 2, 2022, at Eudora Baptist Church, Eudora. Funeral services began at 2 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2022, at the church with burial following at Eudora Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Eudora Cemetery and may be left with the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home.
