Paul Buffington

Paul Buffington, 77, of Springfield, passed away Nov. 2, 2019, in his home surrounded by his family. Buffington was born Oct. 21, 1942, to Ira O. and Mamie Malinda (Standley) Buffington in Greenfield.
Buffington served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Libya, North Africa. Buffington was proud to have been on the Bolivar State Bas-
ketball Championship team of 1960. He was also a past deacon of the
Anchor Baptist Church, Republic. Buffington was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Myra Blount; brother, David Buffington;
and brother-in-law Monroe Beck. Buffington is survived by his
devoted wife; Karran, sons; Doug (Bethany), Scott (Lori), and Jason (Jana) Buffington and two step sons; Robbie and Marty (Jennifer) Cannon; one brother, Robert (Linda) Buffington; four sisters, Kathy Miller (Fred), Malinda Beck, Michelle Cornshucker (Melvin), Jane Steelman (Loyal), and one sister-in-law; Carla Buffington. He is also survived by six grandchildren; five step grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a large and loving extended family and many friends.
Buffington’s visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with funeral service to be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, also in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic Chapel. Burial will follow at a later date with military honors at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. The family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made in Paul’s memory, to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
