Republic soccer gears up for final stretch

Republic hosted Marshfield on its home turf in a non-conference tune-up for the stretch run of the season, winning 4–0. A four-minute stretch helped the Tigers put the game away. Leading 1–0 in the second half, Republic scored three goals in a little over three and a half minutes.
After Austin Beck gave Republic a 1–0 lead in the first half, the teams stayed even until after halftime. With about 27 minutes left in the game, Chris Pacheco scored to make the score 2–0. Alex Leonard punched home a penalty kick two minutes later to make the score 3–0. Marco Donjuan headed the ball into the goal a minute after that, giving Republic a 4–0 lead.
Pacheco had two assists to go along with his goal.
The game had been scheduled to be played in Marshfield, but the teams moved to Republic because rain made Marshfield’s grass field unplayable.
