After an improved offensive start to the season, Republic's soccer team struggled to score during two matches last week. The Lady Tigers had a few opportunities early during a home match against Sedalia Smith-Cotton, but couldn't put the ball in the net. Smith-Cotton led 1-0 at halftime, then scored four goals over a 14-minute period to pull away for a 5-0 win. Republic, wracked by injuries early in the season, suffered another loss when goalkeeper Lillian Weymuth left the game.

Playing without Weymuth, among other injured players, Republic struggled on the road Saturday, losing to Capital City 7-0.
