Republic volleyball squad splits COC matches; continues middling at 5-5-1 overall record

Republic opened its conference season with a win at home against Neosho, beat- ing the Wildcats 25-16, 25- 16. The win moved Republic over the .500 mark for the season at 5-4-1.
“We did something really cool in practice last week. We challenged them to think about what they needed to work on to make themselves individually better and what could bring the team together and make the team better and stronger,” coach Allison Davis said. “Those simple team-bonding situations get our mind focused. We’re trying to build chemistry with this rotations, so I feel like this win is just giving the girls more confidence that they need.”
Freshman Kailey Manes led Republic with seven kills and two blocks. Rylee Moseman had 12 digs and 16 assists.
Carl Junction edged Re- public in the second COC match of the season, 25-18, 26-24. Moseman led Republic in that one with 10 kills. Carl Junction improved to 9-4 overall, 2-0 in the COC. Republic fell to 5-5-1 and 1-1.
