Republic volleyball team sweeps to victory in Branson

Claire Esther passes during Republic’s win against Bolivar at the Branson Invitational Saturday.

The Republic volleyball team didn’t lose a set all day in capturing the championship of the Branson Invitational Tournament, Saturday. The Lady Tigers beat Reeds Spring, Summit Christian Academy, and Parkview in morning pool play. They overcame a six-point early deficit against Bolivar to win in the quarterfinals, knocked off host Branson in the semis, and beat Strafford in the championship match.
“I learned how adaptable these girls are and how hard these girls are willing to fight and overcome challenges and mistakes,” said coach Allison Davis. “It’s obvious these girls love and respect one another and want to work hard for each other. They are having fun, and that’s what it’s about.”
Republic had finished third at the tournament last year.
