Republic wrestlers finish 2nd at home tournament

Republic recognized five seniors in its wrestling program Saturday- manager Addie Biers, Elijah Hathcock, Isaac Gyles, Issac Collyott, and manager Caydie Imbeau.

The Republic wrestling program honored its seniors in just about the best way possible: by posting its best tournament finish of the year in the Republic Invitational, Saturday. The Tigers finished second overall out of 12 teams, with 207.5 points. Bentonville West finished first, with 252.5, and Logan-Rogersville was third with
150.5.
Republic had three champions: Phillip George (113), Chase Hicks (145), and Connor Sandridge (170). Shea Rogers (120) and Elijah Hathcock (220) finished second.
Republic also recognized five seniors during the tournament, three wrestlers and two managers. Coach Eric Nolan said all five have played an important role in his becoming acclimated to the program as a first-year head coach.
“They’ve been here from day one. They’ve been very helpful…with the transition and in setting the tone in our room by showing up every day,” Nolan said. “A couple of them have been great about coming in and working with our youth club
wrestlers.
“Our managers are extremely dependable and really on top of stuff, which is helpful when you’re running a program and you have girls who know how things are supposed to work. We’ll miss them and really appreciate their hard work.”
