Republicans Davidson, MacLachlan successful at Aug. 4 primary polls

Medicaid expanding Amendment 2 passes in county, statewide with 53 percent in favor

Republican Bishop Davidson will square off with Democratic contender Dave Gragg on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to see who will be District 130’s state representative in Jefferson City.
Davidson narrowly defeated Macy Mitchell in the primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 4. Davidson won 2,859 votes, or roughly 45-percent of the votes cast by those voting the Republican ticket in Greene County, while Mitchell won 2,699 votes, or about 43-percent. The other challenger, Samuel Snider, won 745 votes, or about 12-percent. Gragg was the lone Democratic candidate in the primary election.
Greene County Commission Republican Primary
In the race for District One Greene County Commissioner, Rusty MacLachlan defeated former Missouri State Representative Sonya Murray Anderson. MacLachlan won 8,488 votes, or 54-percent of those cast, while Anderson won 7,142 votes, or about 46-percent. MacLachlan will face the Democratic candidate, Wes Zongker, in November.
 Assessor
Brent Johnson won the election for assessor; he received 10,583 votes, or about 38-percent of the votes cast. Joe Durnall came in second, winning 9,666 votes, or about 35-precent. Conan Dougherty won 7,515 votes, or about 27-percent.
Amendment 2
Missouri Constitutional Amendment Two passed with Greene County voters; 27,772, or about 52-percent voted in favor of the amendment, while 25,343, or about 48-percent, voted against it. Statewide, the amendment passed with 672,967 Missouri voters, or about 53-percent voting in favor while 590,809, or about 47-percent, voted against it.
Voter turnout
A total of 53,430 of Greene County’s eligible voters, or about 32-percent, cast ballots in the election. Greene County has a total of 166,222 eligible voters.
