Richard M. “Dick” Wiles

Richard M. “Dick” Wiles, 81, was born May 15, 1938 to Maurice and Edna (Western) Wiles in Clark County, Wisc. He passed from this life peacefully Jan. 8, 2020 at Willard Care Center in Willard, with his loving wife, Betty, at his side.
Wiles was born and raised in the Stanley, Wisc., area where he grew up working in the family cheese making business. In 1960, he moved his fam- ily to Milan, Mo., to run the family’s new cheese making factory with his brother, Tom. After the factory closed in 1967, he moved to Clinton, first working at Clearfield Cheese and eventually building what became a lifelong career as an independent insurance agent. On Oct. 17, 1987 he married Betty (Moore) and later moved to Springfield, where he continued his career as an insurance agent until retirement in 2012.
Wiles was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Edna Wiles, one brother, Jerry Wiles, and one son, Kirk Wiles.
Wiles is survived by his wife, Betty, of their home, son Rick (and Mary) Wiles of Arkansas, stepchildren; Brad (and Holly) Howe of Clinton, Angela (and Byron) Wheeler of Collins, and Mendy (and Charley) Ledbetter of El Dorado Springs; siblings; Tom (and Donna) Wiles of Milan, Jack (and Sandy) Wiles of Normal, Ill., Kathy (and John) Sherman of Terrell, Texas, and surviving sister-in-law Mariane Wiles of Watertown, S.D., nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other friends and family.
A memorial service for Wiles will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 925 E. Seminole St, Springfield, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020.
